Guided Fraser River Fishing Adventures

Pitt River

A glacier-fed wilderness river a short drive from Vancouver, with year-round resident and sea-run trout.

A short drive from Vancouver and a quick boat ride away lies a watershed that has hardly felt the influence of modern society. The upper Pitt is glacier-fed and medium-sized, with a feel of utter remoteness. Only its excellent fishing rivals the sheer beauty of the area.

A strong resident population of Dolly Varden, bull trout, rainbow and cutthroat makes for excellent fishing at any time of year, with sea-run bull trout offering an especially aggressive challenge on single-handed or light Spey rods. Chinook enter first in June, followed by one of the world’s largest strains of sockeye in August, and silver coho in October.

Jet boats and experienced boat handling are required to reach and fish this water, so you rarely see other anglers and the river is never over-fished. It is a true adventure that’s easily accessible within a day of Vancouver.
